John Ruskin School are recruiting for a Teaching Assistant to join the team. The purpose of this role is to work collaboratively with other staff, and to give assistance to pupils to access the curriculum, participate in learning and experience a sense of achievement.

Overview of the vacancy
- Implement learning activities/teaching programmes, to support the work of the teacher and increase achievement of pupils, particularly those with special education needs and disabilities.
- Contribute to effective assessment planning by supporting the monitoring, recording and reporting of pupil performance and progress as appropriate.
- Communicate effectively and sensitively with pupils, adapting to their needs.
- Support pupils' social, emotional and physical wellbeing, including reporting concerns to the appropriate person.
- Maintain a stimulating and safe learning environment by organising and managing teaching space and resources.
- Communicate knowledge and understanding of pupils to other school staff and education, health and social care professionals
- Be accountable for creating and maintaining Student Passports for an identified number of students with Educational, Health and Care Plans.
- Use effective behaviour management strategies consistently in line with the school's policy and procedures.
- Undertake all relevant training as required for the role
