Job Description

Furness Engineering and Technology Limited are looking to recruit a Level 3 Engineering Design Technician Electrical Apprentice to join their team in September!
 
Based in Ulverston on the edge of the Lake District, FETL has built its reputation on providing quality engineering support services to activities predominantly relating to the upkeep of legacy plant and infrastructure.
 
Job Description 
As an apprentice draftsperson, you will be required to learn and understand the principles of technical drawings. This includes acquiring the skills to create accurate and detailed drawings and plans, understanding various types of line work, symbols, and conventions, and utilising drafting tools and software. Additionally, you will assist senior designers with various drafting tasks such as creating, modifying, and updating plans, preparing detailed technical drawings, and documenting specifications. You will collaborate closely with other members of the project team to ensure that drawings and plans are precise, complete, and compliant with project requirements. Moreover, you will be responsible for maintaining documentation to ensure that all project drawings and plans are accurate and up to date. As an apprentice draftsperson, you will learn and adhere to industry-specific standards and regulations, such as building codes and safety regulations. You will also need to stay current with new drafting technologies and software to enhance drafting efficiency and accuracy. Additionally, you will follow health and safety protocols, work in safe conditions, and report any hazards or incidents. This position entails active involvement in various aspects of hands-on and theoretical education, complemented by the company's unique on-the-job training. Candidates will develop a strong foundation in a reputable design office and receive mentorship from experienced and approachable professionals.
 
Rate of pay 
£17,619 to £23,830 – Dependent on individual, assessed using SQEP matrix.
 
Working hours
08:00 to 16:00 approx. Monday to Thursday
08:00 to 13:00 Friday (flexible working and TOIL)
 
 
 
 

Qualifications

Minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade C/4 or above with English and Mathematics at B/6 or higher. Possibility of one Science subject.
