Job Description

James Rennie School is looking to recruit 4 teaching assistants to join their team this September! 
 
James Rennie is an outstanding school for pupils aged 3 to 19 who have severe or profound learning disabilities and live in the North of Cumbria. We specialise in communication which supports pupils to make outstanding progress. Our school community is all inclusive and looks to push each individual as far as they can go. 
 
Key responsibilities 
  • Attend to the pupils' personal needs and including social, health, physical, hygiene and welfare matters. 
  • Encourage pupils to interact with others and engage in activities led by the teacher. 
  • Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils. 
  • Prepare classroom as directed for lessons and clear afterwards and also assist with the display of pupils work. 
  • Undertake pupils record keeping as requested. 
  • Support the teacher in managing pupil behaviour, reporting difficulties as appropriate. 
  • Provide clerical/admin support eg. photocopying, typing, filing, collecting money etc. 
  • Support pupils to understand instructions.
  • Prepare and maintain equipment/resources as directed by teacher and assist pupils in their use. 
  •  Assist with the supervision of pupils out of lesson times, including lunchtimes and playtimes. 
 
 

Qualifications

GCSE Maths & English (or equivalent) at grade C/4 or above.
