Job Description

Skelton School have just announced a fantastic opportunity for a Teaching Assistant Apprentice to join the team! The main purpose of this role is to support the KS1 teachers in the teaching, learning and pastoral care of her class with some time spent supporting children in the Early Years unit. The role may also involve providing care for children at Breakfast Club and/or After School Club and during the lunchtime period. It will involve supporting assessment, recording and reporting on achievement, behaviour for learning, progress and development. Skelton School are looking for someone who is reliable, punctual, enjoys working as part of a team and willing to uphold the ethos and values of Skelton School at all times.
 
 
Main Responsibilities
  • Support the class teachers with administration duties including photocopying, organising or making resources.
  • Work with small groups or individuals following the teachers planning or direction
  • Supervise small groups indoors and outdoors.
  • Make observations and assessments of the children and feedback to the class teacher
  • Demonstrate a proactive approach showing initiative and resilience to complete tasks
  • Have a professional attitude to all work and other members of staff.
  • Establish positive relationships with learners and promote positive behaviours, consistently applying the school’s behaviour policy.
  • Support the social, emotional, mental health and well-being of all learners.
  • Be confident communicating with parents/carers.
  • Keep any information discussed in school confidential.
  •  Supervise children at lunchtimes including encouraging good table manners and healthy eating.
  • Be willing to support children with personal care such as toileting.
  • To be a reliable and punctual member of the team.
  • Take part in school training where required
  • To complete all tasks and assignments linked to training provided by Gen2 and attend all sessions required.
  • Promoting and abiding by the ethos and values of the school in all situations.
  • Assisting with extra-curricular activities such as school performances where required.
  • Ensuring all work areas are tidy and clean at the end of each session/day.
  • Ensuring that all equipment and resources necessary for each session are prepared as necessary.
  • Being aware of the school’s policies and procedures and following all correctly with particular regard for safeguarding children and safe practice.
  • Carrying out any additional duties as required by the class teacher.

Qualifications

GCSE or equivalent at grade 4/C in English and Maths
